If you’re new to the area or just passing through, you will find a host of activities to suit all, from family-friendly attractions and romantic walks, to science adventures and retail therapy.
With a number of popular cycling routes passing through Goostrey, as well as nearby golf courses and fishing areas, there’s also a wide variety of activities for sport-enthusiasts to enjoy.
Located off Junction 18 of the M6 motorway, The Crown is the perfect place to stop if you’re visiting one of Cheshire’s many beauty spots, attractions or events. The train station is just a five minute walk away, with links to major cities including Manchester, Liverpool and Chester.

Goosfest 10th Anniversary
Now in its 10th year, this week-long arts and music festival is set to be the best yet!
Goosfest is held each year in October at various venues in and round Goostrey. The festival caters for all musical tastes, whether you’re into classical, reggae, folk, jazz or contemporary, and the arts programme features everything from theatre and stand-up, to poetry, painting and crafts.
Goostrey Rose Festival
The Goostrey Rose Festival is a day set aside by the Goostrey village community for all the family to enjoy.
The annual event is a royal celebration of the Rose Queen’s Court, and is commemorated with a grand procession through the village.
Families can enjoy not only the spectacle of the Rose Queen’s Court parade, but be transported back in time with traditional fairground rides and games, Maypole dancing, various stalls, a flower show and, as the evening falls, Gaelic folk music and dancing at the jolly Ceilidh party.
The Royal Cheshire County Show
A great event for animal lovers! Held annually in nearby Tabley, the show holds many competition classes for cattle, sheep, pigs, and dairy goats. There are also hundreds of classes for light and heavy horses, show jumping, rare breeds of livestock, poultry, pygmy goats, pigeons, cavies, rabbits and a dog show.
Newplatt Fly Fishers (2 miles)
Newplatt Fly Fishers is one of the most beautiful trout venues in Cheshire, located in quiet rural countryside just off the A50 close to Goostrey.
Set in secluded woodland and surrounded with an abundance of plant and bird-life, the 37-acre lake provides some of the most rewarding fishing to the discerning fly fisherman and is regularly stocked with hard fighting, full-finned rainbow and brown trout.
Woodside Golf Course (2.3 miles)
The Crown is located near a number of fantastic golf courses.
The nearest is Woodside Golf, a friendly, family-run course situated just three miles from junction 18 of the M6 in the picturesque village of Cranage in Cheshire.
Jodrell Bank Discovery Centre (2.5 miles)
The giant telescope of Jodrell Bank and its interactive discovery centre is located just off the A535 between Holmes Chapel and Alderley Edge.
Alderley Edge (8.9 miles)
If you fancy a bit of celebrity-spotting, take a trip to Alderley Edge which, like its neighbour Wilmslow, is famous for its affluence and impressive residential properties. A selection of cafes, bars and designer shops adorn its beech-lined streets, and numerous events are held throughout the year.
Tatton Park (10 miles)
Tatton Park is one of the North West’s most popular heritage attractions spanning over 1,000 acres. Renowned for the herds of deer who have roamed on the parkland since 1290, Tatton Park welcomes over 800,000 visitors each year to explore the deer park, mansion, gardens, Old Hall, and rare breeds farm.
It also holds a number of popular events throughout the year including the famous Tatton Flower Show.
